SIALKOT: Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Mohammad Riaz has demanded of the Government to establish labour colony and a workers welfare complex to benefit city's working class.

Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, he said since Sialkot is a hub of cottage industry and contributing huge amounts in shape of foreign exchange to national exchequer through exports, it is most perpetual problems of the workers who have been continuously depriving of facility of workers welfare complex.

He asked the government to take adequate steps for undertaking the workers welfare complex at Sialkot.

He said that SCCI intends to set up a university of technical education in Sialkot for which the Chamber has maintained a close liaison with the University Grants Commission. Such university could be highly instrumental for the development of local human resources inevitable for the sustainable development of export sector, he added.

He further said, the proposed international airport will be developed on 1000 acres of land and the initial work of this project will be undertaken in near future. He said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has sanctioned Rs. 230 million as grant for the purchase of land for this purpose.ÑPPI�
