flight arrives
in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The first flight of pilgrims reached here on Wednesday from Saudi Arabia marking the start of airlifting operation of some 88,000 Hujjaj.
A PIA flight PK-1702, carrying 280 Faithful, reached Peshawar in the afternoon. The provincial minister for C&W, Agha Syed Ali Shah, and minister for information, Abdus Subhan Khan, welcomed the pilgrims at the Peshawar International Airport.
The ministers congratulated the pilgrims on Haj-i-Akbar and garlanded them. NWFP Director Haj Zainul Arifeen, Deputy Director Shakeel Ahmed Sethi, Assistant Director Qazi Samiur Rehman, authorities of Haj directorate and airport were present on the occasion. Shakeel Ahmed Sethi, on the occasion informed newsmen that a total of 10,293 pilgrims will reach Peshawar till April 24 through 37 flights.
He further informed that two daily flights of pilgrims would reach Peshawar till April 11, while from April 12 to April 24 one flight will reach Peshawar daily.
Earlier, provincial ministers discussed the arrangements made for the pilgrims returning home with the authorities of Haj directorate at the VIP lounge and lauded the efforts made in connection with arrival of pilgrims.
They also lauded the security arrangements.
