CDA disposal of animals'
waste on Eid hailed
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) did a commendable job this time with a smart planning to dispose of the wastes of sacrificial animals on Eid-ul-Azha.
Unlike the past the capital city saw systematic approach by the CDA this year to dispose of the waste and remains of the sacrificial animals.
"I must appreciate efforts of the CDA to make proper arrangements this year to lift the wastes of sacrificial animals," a resident of I-10 told APP.
A visit to various sectors showed, there was hardly any complaint about the CDA arrangements to discard the waste and remains.
When asked, CDA Director Sanitation Shahid Murtaza Bukhari told APP that some 1,200 staff, deputed on Eid days for the purpose, executed the entire plan to dispose of the remains in a wonderful manner.
He said the CDA made arrangements to count the sacrificial animals to be brought to the capital which was around 164000 by the night before Eid.
These animals-6,000 cows and oxen, 4,000 lambs and rest male and female goats- were all accommodated on the green belts of sector G-9, he added.
Similarly, he said, "we had asked a week before from each house of the each sector to know the number of sacrifices to be offered."
According to the rough estimate from the each sector, a total of some 25,000 to 30,000 sacrifices were offered in the capital city this year, he added.
About the arrangements to dispose of the wastes, Bukhari said, 10 collecting points were set up in each sector.
"Arrangements were made to pick the remains and waste from the spot (each house) by a cleaner."
Similarly, he said, trolleys and tractors were arranged to collect remains from the spot, where people offered collective sacrifice.
All the waste and remains of sacrificial animals were dumped in a ground by way of land-filling at the specified place, he said.ÑAPP
