ISLAMABAD: Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, arrives here on April 5 on a two-day official visit, at the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
During the visit, Amir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will hold talks on matters of mutual interest, including those relating to bilateral relations and regional situation as well as international developments, at large.
"They will discuss ways and means to further strengthen and diversify bilateral cooperation," official sources said.
The visit reflects the desire of the two governments to have periodic high-level consultations to assure coordination of policies that affect the mutual relations.
The sources said, the visit takes place within the framework of close, strong and fraternal relations between the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan that have withstood the test of time.
The Amir had paid his first official visit to Pakistan in his capacity as the Crown Prince in 1991.
The upcoming visit of the Amir to Pakistan is a part of his seven-nation tour abroad.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif last paid an official visit to Qatar from June 30 to July 1, last year.
The Qatari leader will hold talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and call on President Rafiq Tarar. Pakistani leaders will brief Sheikh Khalifa on regional situation, especially the last month's Indo-Pak summit and Pakistan's efforts for the restoration of peace in Afghanistan.
Both Pakistan and Qatar are important members of OIC and share similar views on various regional and international issues.
Some 100,000 Pakistanis are working in Qatar. They are performing duties in various fields and are playing a key role in the development of this important Gulf state.ÑAPP����2�,]�1
