F'abad traders
observe strike
against
lawlessness

FAISALABAD: Of the shopping centres including Yarn Market, Sarafa Bazar and all cloth markets remained closed on Tuesday at the strike call given by the Anjuman Tajran-e-Faisalabad to mark protest against lawlessness and dacoities in the industrial city.
On the arrival of Punjab Chief Minister Arif Nakai, the traders community took out a protest procession and overall business activities remained suspended.
The procession emerged from Faisalabad Yarn Market and terminated at Chowk Clock Tower after marching through main bazars of the city.
At various places processionists burnt the old tyres and chanted slogans against the police and local administration.
The procession was led by the President, Anjuman Tajran, Faisalabad Abdul Manan, the President, Grey Cloth Brokers Association, Sheikh Taj Mehmood and leaders of cloth markets associations.
Addressing the protest rally at Chowk Cloth Tower, the traders leaders expressed grave concern over the worst law and order situation in the industrial city and said that local administration and police has totally failed to control the growing dacoities.
They said that average of dacoities in Faisalabad has been risen to ten dacoities per day besides occurrence of dozens of burglaries and highway robberies which has caused serious alarm for the citizen especially traders.
