Ban on Zaman's
4 books lifted
ISLAMABAD: The four literary compositions of Fakhar Zaman, Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters, forfeited and banned by Martial Law government in June, 1978 has been declared by the Judge of Lahore High court Ch. Khurshid Ahmed As "an act of mala fide.
In his judgement, it was observed that "The ban was against all cannons of natural justice and infringed upon the rights of the petitioner under Article 4 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973".
According to a press release, the ban was imposed through an executive order in the process of victimization and denial of basic human right.
The four literacy compositions are: "Sat Gowachay Lok", (seven lost persons ) Novel, " Ik Maray Banday Di Kahani" (story of a deadman) Novel, "Wangar" (The challenge) Poetry and "Hanso Wailey Di" (The Intimation of time) Poetry
The judgement further says that "it was also a violation of fundamental right of the petitioner as secured under Article 19 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973 and all subsequent acts of the respondents are declared to be of no legal effect and without lawful authority".-APP
