Japanese
grant-in-aidd
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Japan signed an
agreement here , Tuesday, under which Japan will provide an
amount of Rs. 546 million to Pakistan as grant aid for two
projects.
The agreement was signed by Takao Kawakami,
Ambassador of Japan and Javed Talat, Secretary, Economic Affairs
Division.
The grant-aid has been provided for two projects namely
Improvement of Educational Equipment for the University of
Agricultural, Faisalabad and Equipment for Improvement of Garbage
Collection and Disposal in Rawalpindi City.
Under this agreement educational equipment and glassware
necessary for imparting better practical training to the students
in different disciplines will be procured by university.
This input will stimulate new activities of research which
will help solve the problems faced by the agricultural sector.
An amount of about Rs. 234.9 million will be provided to the
government of Punjab for procurement of 30 garbage collection
detachable container trucks, 160 containers, 4 dump trucks, 3
wheel loaders, 2 bulldozers, 2 excavators , 2 water bowzers, a
wrecker truck and spare parts/tools for the workshop of
Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC).
These garbage collection trucks and equipment would
significantly increase the capability of RMC in the collection
and disposal of garbage, which will help to improve the city's
