PM gets award

for her services

to Bosnia

Ankara: Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was given a special Award in recognition of her services to the cause of Bosnia by the Independent Industrialist and Business Association (IIBA) of Turkey at their Fourth Annual General Assembly meeting here on Sunday.

The Award was received by the Ambassador of Pakistan in Turkey, Inam-ul Haque, on behalf of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The Chairman, IIBA, reading the citation, paid rich tributes to Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto for supporting the Bosnian issue at various international fora, and for taking a trip to the war-torn area along with the former Prime Minister of Turkey Mrs. Tansu Ciller "at a very crucial period of the crisis".

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of Pakistan thanked the organiser for the award and reiterated that Pakistan and its leaders were committed to support the cause of Muslims fighting for their just rights.

He said, Pakistan supports the just struggle of Palestinian people for their independence, the just cause of Kashmiri Muslims for right of self-determination and the right of Muslims in Cyprus and Pakistan has always voiced for the rights of Muslims in countries where they are in minority.

The Association also gave award in the same regard to the Leader of Welfare Party, Necmettin Erbekan and Chairman of Republican party Deniz Baykal. Some leading human rights activists, senior Journalists and social workers who contributed to reduce the sufferings of Muslims in Bosnia, also received awards. Representatives of the leading political parties of Turkey also addressed the gathering.-APP
