criticize MQM
for boycotting

KARACHI: Pir Mazharul Haq, Minister for Law, has criticised MQM members of Sindh Assembly for not taking part in the assembly proceedings.
Speaking in Sindh Assembly on Sunday on the general principles of the bill seeking establishment of Baqai Medical University, he said it was the third bill providing for establishment of universities in private sector of Sindh.
APP adds: Earlier, he said, the assembly passed the bills for establishment of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology and Dr. Ziauddin Medical University.
On the occasion, a number of members from the treasury benches supported the bill. They included provincial Ministers Abdul Khaliq Jumma, Lal Bux Bhutto, Abdul Hakeem Baloch, Haji Zafar ALi Leghari, Syed Murad Ali Shah and Syed Parvez Ali Shah besides MPAs Ali Ahmed Pattafi, Mohammad Amin Lakho, Abdul Qadir Patel and Taj Mohammad Shaikh.
The discussion was still on when some members sought certain clarifications in respect of certain articles of the Bill.
The Law Minister invited the members to his chamber for a meeting with Dr Baqai in order to get the required clarification and in the meantime he requested the Speaker to defer its further clarification till Monday which was allowed.
Meanwhile, Speaker Ghous Bux Maher announced that Sindh Governor has given assent to four bills passed by Sindh Assembly. These are: (1) Colonization of government Lands (Sindh Amendment) Bill, 1995, (2) The Bilawal Institute of Historical Research Bill, 1995 (3) The People's Medical Colleges and Hospital Nawabshah (Amendment) Bill, 1995 and (4) The Sindh Parliamentary Secretaries (Salaries, Allowances and Privileges) (Amendment) Bill, 1996.
