KARACHI: Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Farooq Sattar said MQM had submitted papers for its candidates to contest Senate elections which is being held on April 09, but was still considering whether to take part or not.

Talking to journalists on Sunday in his chamber at Sindh Assembly building after Assembly session, boycotted by MQM MPAs, he said "we have showed interest in competing Senate elections, we also want existence democratic institutions in the country but the present government is violating democratic values by keeping our MPAs away from attending session of Sindh Assembly".

He said it was responsibility of Speaker of the Assembly to ensure attendance of every member in the session.

He said "I was brought from jail on Sunday along with Rana Safdar and Salahuddin MQM MPAs without giving any application to the court but MPAs detained in Adiyala Jail, Rawalpindi were being forced to submit an application to the court".

He asked when they were brought without giving application then why could they not be brought from Adiyala Jail. He said government attempted to change their loyalties and now release of them could expose the government, therefore their release was linked with submitting application.

To a question he said MQM would continue its boycott from Assembly sessions.-PPI
