LAHORE: President Farooq Leghari will open the first convocation of National Academy of Medical Sciences, Pakistan (NAMSP) at King Edward Medical College here on Monday, April 8.

The academy was established to find ways of promoting medical research and innovation teaching in Pakistan.

The academy will guide the government towards a new way of promoting research in the country in medical field for which the academy will concentrate on three aspects:

Identify and encourage young research workers through financial and status incentives, promote, research through publication, workshops and seminars and finally encourage collaborative research by forming groups and tapping the resources of large number of centre of excellence in the medical and allied fields.-PPI
