Javed was shot at
by bank guard in
self-defence'
LAHORE: Javed Ashraf, a PML (N) Leader, was killed by the firing of the bank guard in self-defence as a pallet recovered from his body is found to be fired by a 12-bore gun owned by the gunman of the bank.
This was stated by the city Police Chief, Chaudhry Sajjad Ahmad while addressing a press conference here on Sunday. He said that a report of Forensic Medical Science Laboratory revealed that the cartridge was fired by a ten or 12 bore gun.
He said that policemen deputed on the bank did not possess any 12-bore gun as they were equipped with Chinese rifles, adding that these rifles can fire only bullets.
He said that the facts have come on surface after the forensic report and the allegations of the opposition party that Javed Ashraf was killed by police firing have proved to be false, he said.
The SSP said that the bank guard had to resort to firing in self- defence after the PML(N) activists made a sudden attack which also resulted in serious bullet injuries to the bank manager. He, however, said that the gun-shot could also be fired by some body else from the mob with an intention to kill Javed Ashraf.
"A cop had caught hold of a PML(N) activist for setting ablaze a police kiosk and detained him in the bank when his armed colleagues attacked the bank to rescue him," he said.
He said that PML(N) activists first opened fire on the bank and on Shezan Restaurant, and the bullets struck a bank Manager and a waiter. Chaudhry Sajjad said that the bank guard opened fire in accordance with law to save the lives of innocent citizens and to defend himself.-APP
