Cricket fever revisits

KARACHI: Commodities moved both ways in Jodia Bazar where cricket fever revisited it on Sunday in the wake of Singer final played between World Cup quarter-final loser Pakistan and winner Sri Lanka. Age was no bar not to suffer from this fever and modern technology had brought the view right on their tables.
However, slow the pace of trading, some sectors did encounter changes and they were jute goods, Kirana, dry fruits and plastic moulding.
Only last week jute goods started receding owing to drastic and over right cut in the sales of cotton. The trend was maintained. White twine showed firmness. Hessian cloth dropped modestly such as 45x8 1/2 Amin, 45x8 1/2 Indus and 45x 8 1/2 Crescent which turned down by Rs 25.
Kirana and dry fruits sector operated fairly well. Traders had to narrate woes of genuine importers allegedly harassed by agencies supposed to arrest spread of smuggling. But they reported continued incident of bootlegging. Mace conceded Rs 200, big cardamom turned higher by Rs 50, coconut edible up Rs 25, dry ginger shed Rs 25, peanuts lost the same amount, Isbaghol ki bhoosi gained Rs 25, cuminseed up Rs 25, tamarind ghanta up Rs 50, darchini up Rs 25, tamarind closed higher by Rs 60, almond katha lost Rs 5, almond Irani shed Rs 50, chilghoza gave in Rs 100 and pistachio lost Rs 180.
Plastic mouldings depicted mixed trend, traders said. Externally speaking, prices stayed put. The rise and fall were caused by local factors. HDPE film Mobil HTA-001 up 20 paisa, Korea 3080 up 25 paisa, Ladene 00952 up 15 paisa. HDPE injection Ladene injection 200056 down by 40 paisa, escorene shed 75 paisa. HDPE blow Tipelin 640 up 50 paisa and dilene gained same amount. Polypropylene film grade Tipelin film grade H 356F down by 25 paisa. Polypropylene tape grade Saudia down by Rs 1.50, Tipelin lost 25 paisa, Himont 543 H shed Rs 1.50, Yuplene 730 climbed down by 75 paisa. Polyestyrene high impact krasten gave in by 50 paisa and Saudia shed same amount. PVC Golden Bell quoted at Rs 21.25, formaton shed 50 paisa, Korea, Hungary ongrovil and Saudia each turned lower by 25 paisa.
