KARACHI: A high-level meeting of Federal Cabinet Committee on tax policy and administration will be held in Islamabad on Monday.

The Committee which comprises Minister for Commerce (convener), Minister for Information and Broadcasting (member), Minister for Petroleum and National Resources (member) and Member Tax Policy, Central Board of Revenue, will examine various matters on tax policy and administration.

According to business circles, the Committee has invited top business leaders representing trade and industry for discussion on broadening tax base, levying of income tax at a flat rate, reducing exemptions, levying of tax on non-tax payers on purchase of selected high value items, improvement in self-assessment scheme for income tax and tax collection.-PPI
