Bomb hoax disturbs

ISLAMABAD: Panic gripped the building of Saudi-Pak Tower, Blue Area Islamabad on Sunday when an unknown caller phoned that a bomb has been planted in the building which could explode anytime.

The bomb disposal squad and police were called immediately who thoroughly searched the multi-storey building and found nothing and the phone proved to a be a hoax.

An agreement signing ceremony regarding the Islamabad New City Project was about to take place in the third floor of the Pak-Saudi Tower, when the building officials received the phone call by unknown person. A delegation of investors from Singapore and high Pakistani officials were present at the signing ceremony. Prominent among them were the Chairman Board of Investment, Safdar Zaidi, Chairman CDA, Zafar Iqbal, Chairman National Housing Authority, Iqbal Ahmed and President of MG Pakistan, Tahir Khan.

There are offices of a number of important organisations in the building including Board of Investment, Unicef, Union Bank, Pakistan Tobacco Company and others.-PPI
