ISLAMABAD: The Senior Punjab Minister Malik Mushtaq Awan disclosed here Sunday that opposition leader Mian Nawaz Sharif was patronizing terrorism and lawlessness in Punjab, toeing the line of Altaf group to de-stabilize the democratic government.

In a statement issued here Awan said that Nawaz Sharif was acting upon a well planned programme for pushing the country towards civil war for creating a situation like 1977.

The sole objective of his politics was to create instability to fulfil his ulterior motive to harm the elected government of Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's.

Referring to the Thursday's incident in Lahore, he further disclosed that an organized terrorist group from Karachi had entered Punjab to follow the directives of Nawaz Sharif.

Malik Mushtaq said that this group has been despatched by Altaf Hussain on the demand of Nawaz Sharif.

He feared that Nawaz Sharif could use such groups to attack banks and police stations to create uncertainty in Punjab.

The government believed that taking out processions were the part of democratic tradition but to take law in hand under the pretext of demonstration could not be allowed in any case, he added.

He said government would fulfill its responsibility at all cost maintaining law and order and providing security to the people. He said the situation of instability has been created this time to sabotage the offer of talks by the Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.-APP
