Kashmir team
presents
memorandums to
UNHRC members
SRINAGAR: The Occupied Kashmir Human Rights delegation, now in Geneva, has presented memorandums to the members of the UN Human Rights Commission.
The Kashmiri delegation also provided documentary proofs along with the memorandums regarding large-scale and grave human rights violation by India in Occupied Kashmir.
The HR commission members were also apprised of the circumstances of the murder of the well-known Kashmiri human rights activist, Jalil Andrabi by Indian troops.
The delegation also met diplomats and briefed them about the ground situation in Held Kashmir. The delegation includes the General Secretary of the Kashmir Bar Association, Mumtaz Wani, General Secretary of the occupied Kashmir Human Rights Society, Abdul Hamid Bendey and Professor Naeem Khan.
Meanwhile, an All Parties Hurriet Conference Leader, Prof Abdul Ghani has said in Srinagar that the Kashmir issue could only be solved through tripartite talks between Pakistan, India and genuine representatives of Kashmiri people. Rejecting once again the polls ploy, he emphasised that election could not be a substitute for plebiscite.
He said if India was really interested in ascertaining the views of Kashmiri people then "we give it an invitation to ask Kashmiris as to whether they want elections or a plebiscite."
The APHC leader said that the tenure of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq as Chairman of the Council has been extended by two years and that he, himself has been appointed as its principal spokesman.
MORE KASHMIRIS KILLED
On the other hand more Kashmiris have been murdered by troops mostly in custody. Five Kashmiris were killed in custody in Pampure alone. Their dead bodies were discovered near Chandhaars crossing, about five kms from Pampure. An aged person Sher Mohammad was shot dead by troops at Gathihaar in Doda district and the dead body of a victim of custodial killing was recovered at Rangwar in Kupwara district.
Extensive crackdowns were carried out in Budgam, Malarata and Kursu Rajbagh in Srinagar and Nightpura in Islamabad. Houses were ransacked, women molested and a number of people taken into custody. A house was burnt to ashes at Malarata in Srinagar while eight youngmen were arrested from various localities of the city. Four people were rounded up during a crackdown in Islamabad.
At chathabal in Srinagar a young man, Altaf Ahmad Mir was grabbed by troops took him to an area near Qamerwari and shot him, leaving him behind as dead but in fact he was alive but critically injured. An engineer and an accountant were abducted by the Indian agents from Munawarabad locality of Srinagar.
The Mujahideen reacted by blasting a military vehicle at Maagam in Budgam area and those aboard were either killed or injured. One Mujahid got martyred in the action. The mujahideen launched a rocket attack on a military camp at Chaodorsa, also in Budgam area killing and injuring a number of troops. Considerable casualties were inflicted on troops in a clash at Doabgah in Sopore area. One Mujahid embraced martyrdom.-PPI
