Kashmir liberation

struggle to continue

till success: Qayyum

LAHORE: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Abdul Qayyum Khan has said that Kashmir liberation struggle will continue till success.

India has exhausted all her "cards" not a single Kashmiri is with India. Pakistani leadership should demonstrate unity on the Kashmir issue, he added.

Speaking at a meeting organised by Press Council for International Affairs in Lahore, Qayyum said the solution of Kashmir problem was a matter of life or death for Kashmiris.

It was a challenge for Pakistan as well, without successfully meeting which Pakistan could reach nowhere. It was an irony of fate that the outside world fully knew that Jammu and Kashmir state would join Pakistan if the Kashmiris had their way but in Pakistan certain quarters were skeptical. Hence there was discussion on various options, he said.

Qayyum however, said there was no harm in discussing options while discussing Kashmir issue with foreigners. In case "We" back out options at international fora, India makes a propaganda that Kashmir issue can be solved but Pakistan does not allow it to be.

Anyway there was no alternative to UN resolutions and apart from UN resolutions, all other discussion was only an academic, exercise. Not a single family was there in the Occupied Kashmir, which was not victim of Indian atrocity. As such to suspect any section of group of Kashmiris was in vain, Qayyum said.

The AJK Prime Minister said the level of resistence movement could be judged from the fact that India had deployed 6,50,000 troops in the Occupied Kashmir. The intellectuals who talked of befriending India without solving the core issue of Kashmir.

Replying to a question about Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, Qayyum said there was no available alternative to Nawabzada Nasrullah. There was no need to include Kashmiris in it, he said. He however, said the committee should send only such delegations abroad as were well-versed in Kashmir issue.

He was of the view that Kashmir issue could not be left to governments alone. The intelligentsia could play an effective role. There should be pressure on Pakistan Government also so that they might not dare to put it in cold storage for any expediency, he said.

Answering a question about future elections in Azad Kashmir Qayyum said elections would be disastrous there which would be rigged.-PPI
