Leghari to open

NAMSP convention

on Monday

LAHORE: President Farooq Ahmad Leghari will open the first convocation of National Academy of Medical Sciences, Pakistan (NAMSP) at King Edward Medical College here on April 8.

According to Secretary General NAMSP, Prof. Iftikhar Ahmad Malik, the academy was established to find ways of promoting medical research and innovation teaching in Pakistan.

He said the academy will guide the government towards a new way of promoting research in the country in medical Field for which the academy will concentrate on three aspects; Identify and encourage young research workers through financial and status incentives, promote research through publication, workshops and seminars and finally encourage collaborative research by forming groups and tapping the resources of large number of centre of excellence in the medical and allied fields.

He said it is need of the hour that like minded people be gathered to organize the research activity in the country on permanent basis besides working to develop close cooperation with the existing medical research organizations in the country and abroad.-APP
