moot: follow-up

body meets today

ISLAMABAD: The two-day meeting of the follow-up committee of the first International Women Parliamentarian Conference from Muslim countries will begin here on Saturday. The Speaker National Assembly, Yousaf Raza Gilani will inaugurate the conference.

Ten countries are sending delegates to the conference which will adopt the statute of the Islamic Women Parliamentarian Secretariat.

The conference will also approve the annual budget estimate for which contribution will come from member states. Pakistan has already contributed Rs 15 million for the setting of a Secretariat of this organisation.

Delegations to the follow-up conference from Bosnia, Egypt, Gunaea, Morocco, Palestine, Senegal, Turkey and Uganda arrived in Islamabad on Friday evening.-PPI
