Ghafoor exhorts
educational
revolution
LAHORE: Only An educational revolution can pave the way for being rid of the present rulers. Control of certain small groups, over the institutions of higher education, with the vested interests has abandoned opportunities of higher education for the wards of the poor.
These views were expressed by deputy Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Prof Ghafoor Ahmed, while addressing a 3-day convention of private educational institutions held under the aegis of Islamic Directorate of Education Pakistan at Mansoora here on Friday.
Prof Ghafoor, who heads the Jamaat Central Committee on Education, said that rise and fall of the nations hinges upon the education. He said countries with marginal resources have made great progress just because of their good standard of education.
He said the government was bound to provide education to children up to the age of 9 years. He castigated the government for what he called, living a luxurious livelihood at the cost of future of our children.
Citing a report of international committee of basic human rights, based on a detailed survey of educational institutions in Pakistan, the JI leader said that there are as many as 1,25,000 educational institutes, which were being run without proper building arrangements and in some cases the students were forced to sit under the open sky.
He added that there are many schools in the country which have been taken hold over the Qabza group and such buildings are being used as their stores.-PPI
