Indian bouses fall
BOMBAY: Foreign portfolio investments on Indian bourses fell sharply in March, the last month of the fiscal year, the market regulator said in a statement Friday.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India's monthly report sai d investments by foreign institutional investors (FIIs) fell 29 percent month-on-month to $307.20 million in March.
The markets regulator said foreign institutional investments for the year to March 31 were worth $2.03 billion.
"This is the highest level of yearly cumulative net investment by FIIs since they began investing in Indian securities markets," the report said.
The board said FIIs had invested $5.19 billion on Indian bourses since New Delhi opened up the markets four years ago in line with its sweeping economic reforms.-AFP
