Ecnec meets
on Sunday
ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) will meet on April 7, to approve Rural Access Road Project worth Rs 5.5 billion beside five other projects.
Asian Development Bank is contributing Rs 4.3 billion in this project to link rural areas to market while Government of Pakistan will provide Rs 1.2 billion.
The other environment friendly project which will be put before the Ecnec is regarding establishment of Forest Nursery on 6000 acres land in different parts of the country.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 600 million which will be contributed by the four provinces and federal government in shape of land and the plants. The logistics will also be provided by the concerned provinces.
A new project to convert fertile the barren land of Southern Punjab situated beside the old River Beas will also be initiated. The name of the project is Sukh Beas below B.S. Link Phase-I. The Sukh Nai Out-Fall Channel will be built with the cost of Rs 617 million.
The Ecnec will also revise second time the estimated cost of New Prime Minister's Secretariat being built at the Constitution Avenue.
The quarterly report of the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) will also be submitted to the Ecnec for approval.
The last item on the agenda is regarding improvement in the Financial Reporting and Auditing in Pakistan. This project is related to the Auditor General of Pakistan and to some extent Central Board of Revenue.
The purpose of the project is to improve the reporting of revenue collection swift and accurate. The relating offices will be equipped with the centrally controlled computer network under this project. The project is at its initial stage and PC-I is being prepared for the project.
The Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance and Economic Affairs V.A. Jafarey will preside over the meeting. The participants will be the Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Federal Secretaries, Finance and EAD, Chairman CBR, Provincial Planning Ministers, Provincial Finance Ministers, Additional Chief Secretaries of Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan and Chief Secretary also Chairman, Planning and Development Board Punjab.-APP
