splits with PPP

KARACHI: Balochistan Nation Movement (BNM/Mengal) on Thursday disassociated from parliamentary alliance with PPP after what it termed "non-compliance of agreed conditions."

Akhtar Mengal, MPA and central leader of BNM, at a press conference at Karachi Press Club, said, party leaders will shortly resign from membership of Central Parliamentary Secretariatship, Social Action Programmes and Zakat and Ushr Departments. However, party elected legislators will continue to fight for rights of people on the floor of assemblies as independents.

He said BNM joined PPP for parliamentary cooperation in 1993 in broader interest of democracy and people of Balochistan. "Later, we held a number of meetings with central leadership of PPP for implementation of terms and conditions agreed upon at the time of alliance but in vain", he added.
