LAHORE: The Federal government has allocated a 3000 yards plot near the office of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the construction of headquarters of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

This was disclosed by Jamil Maghoon, Vice President Saarc Chambers of Commerce and Industry while talking to newsmen here at the Zonal office of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Wednesday.

Jamil Maghoon said that a six-story multi-purpose building would be constructed at this site to promote trade relations between the members of Saarc.

He said the Saarc permanent office would help streamline the business activities between the members of the Saarc and added that the construction would be started soon after taking over the possession of the plot.

The Saarc Vice-President thanked the Pakistan government for fulfilling the commitment by allotting the land for the permanent headquarters of the Saarc in Islamabad.

He also appreciated the efforts of the Federal Minister, Ahmad Mukhtar for taking personal interest to take final decision for this vital project.-APP
