IYC 'Shariat Court'
to hear 'murder'
of Z A Bhutto
LAHORE: Islami Yekjehti Council (IYC) has given a new touch to the 17th death anniversary of late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto by announcing to hold a 'Shariah Court' on April 28, 1996 (Sunday) in the provincial metropolis to hear the murder case registered against Bhutto on complaint by Ahmad Raza Kasuri.
This was announced by the Chairman of Islami Yekjehti Council (IYC) Qazi Abdul Qadeer Khamosh at a Press Conference here on Wednesday.
He said that the court would not be run according to the constitution or law of Pakistan, but in the light of 'Islamic Fiqah' and under the guidance of 'Quran-o-Sunnah'. He said the Shariat Court would ascertain that death penalty given to Bhutto was right or not in the light of 'Quran-o-Sunnah.
Khamosh said that a penal of five judges would hear the trial. He said former Imam of 'Qibla-e-Awwal' Syed Asad Bayooz Tameemi would head the panel of judges while rest of the judges would be from uncontroversial ulema of Shia, Ahl-e-Hadith, Dewbandi and Bareelvi schools of thought.
When asked whether or not, such type of court and retrial of an already announced case falls in the purview of contempt of court, he said that there was no such thing, as this court would be run in the light of 'Islamic Fiqah' and in the light of 'Quran-o-Sunnah', and not according to the law of land.
To a question, he said that IYC was speedily working on its basic objective of creating sectarian harmony among the Muslims and elimination of hatred. "The council has arranged various public meetings and rallies throughout the country in this regard, which had fetched positive results", he said. Third phase of 'these rallies' would be announced soon to further proceed with 'this noble cause', he said.
He said that the council was a purely non-political platform, working to promote feelings of love and brotherhood. He said that he was in constant touch with various parties of Milli Yekjehti Council (MYC). He claimed that these parties were not agreed with the policy of MYC and wanted to cooperate with IYC in its cause.-PPI
