Hazratbal massacre termed
worst-ever trauma
SRINAGAR: At a Fateha Khawani at Mazar-e-Shuhada in Srinagar, attended by over 10,000 mourners, the political leaders described the Hazratbal massacre as the worst example of ruthless tyranny, reports Kashmir Media Service.
The political leaders included the all Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) stalwarts, Syed Ali Gilani and Shabir Shah. A similar Fateha Khawani was held at the home town of the Martyre JKLF leader Shabir Siddiqui at Soyabug in Budgam.
A mourning meeting was held in the compound of Kashmir High Court in Srinagar for the martyred human rights activist and jurist, Jalil Andrabi at which his martyrdom was described as a great loss for the Kashmiri people. Rich tributes were paid to him for his vital role in the Liberation movement.
Meanwhile, the Kashmir High Court in its hearing of the murder case of Jalil Andrabi passed a strictures against the Indian government and its security forces. Justice Bilal Naski passed an order saying that the government failure to bring the culprits to book was deplorable and shameful. He gave a day's notice to the high police officials to appear before the court in person and apprise the court about the progress, relating to abduction and murder of Jalil Andrabi. The order further said, if the police failed in investigation then the court would be left with no alternative but to carry out enquiry by itself into the case.
According to reports received from various parts of occupied Kashmir, a number of Kashmiris were killed by troops in cold blood. The dead included two in Bandipure area, at Ganipura in Shopian, two at Shangas in Islamabad and three in Doda, who were killed in custody. One was killed in Rajawari areas and one in Aarigam in Ganderbal area. The martyred were identified as Abdul Hamid, Abdur Rashid Shah, Shoukat Gujar, Shamsuddin Gojar, Mukhtar Ahmad Butt, Gulzar Ahmad Butt, Abdul Karim, Ghulam Mir, Ghulam Hasan and Jagan Nath.
An emotional situation was developed when dead bodies of two youngmen, Nazir Ahmad Dar and Farooq Ahmad were brought to Aaripal in Tral area, their bodies bore the marks of torture.
In Shopian, the troops were reported to have resorted to indiscriminate firing, critically injuring four people. Three of them later died in hospital.
Another report said a vast area has been besieged by troops in Rafiabad and a big search operation has been launched. The arrest of two teenaged boys sparked furious anti-India demonstrations in Palwama area.-PPI
