Copper remains lower

NEW YORK: COMEX copper remained lower in midday trading where activity was said to be relatively light ahead of the long weekend holiday in the U.S. and Europe.

The May contract broke through support levels on opening but pulled back and continued to remain off the lows.

"It does seem to be holding well at these levels, and we will probably see a quiet market until after the holiday," a floor source said.

However, the source cautioned that with light activity, the market could be pushed around and distorted.

At 1240 EST May copper was off 0.60 cent at 112.95 cents a lb, traded 113.20 to 112.40 cents.-Reuter
