HYDERABAD: A complete strike was observed in Hyderabad and Latifabad on Wednesday in response to the strike call given by MQM to protest against the alleged extra-judicial killing of its six activists.

The twin cities remained peaceful during the strike as no untoward incident was reported from any quarter during the last twenty four hours.

All the main markets, shopping centres, business establishments, petrol pumps and cinema houses remained shut while service in banks situated in sensitive areas also remained suspended.

Most of the educational institutions remained closed while in the remaining ones attendence was negligible. Attendence in government offices was also very thin. The strike was not for wheel jam but vehicular traffic was less than normal.

Strict security arrangements had been made by the district administration and police mobiles were seen patrolling in the sensitive areas.

The reports pouring in from the interior Sindh said that in all the Mohajir dominated areas strike was observed but its intensity was less than the previous strikes.
