ISLAMABAD: Officers Federation of Banks and Financial Institutions Pakistan is holding a country-wide convention in the federal capital on April 7 and 8 for the appointment of a fresh pay and pension committee to revise their pay scales etc.

The federation has pointed out that there was immediate need to constitute such a committee in view of the fact that the report of the earlier committee had expired on January 1, 1996. And because of the higher cost of living due to devaluation of the Pak rupee, and upsurge in the prices of petroleum, electricity, gas and all other commodities, constitution of the committee is urgently required, the federation noted.

The federation says that it had already drawn the attention of the Prime Minister, the Finance Minister and other concern authorities for immediate constitution of the committee, but nothing has materialised so far.

The federation also called for revision of the present income tax slab for the salaried class.

The convention would discuss the prevailing situation, would convey its sentiments to the President, the Prime Minister and other, and would also chalk out further line of action to achieve its goal.
