_Jodia Bazar dull
on eve of Eid
RECORDER REPORT
KARACHI: Jodia Bazar shops opened a bit late giving an impression to the visitors that they were not opening.
Offices and shops which remained closed were those who deal in chemicals, dyes, tea etc. Shops dealing in such items as socks, handkerchief, bedsheets, towel and essential goods were not only open but did roaring last minute business.
Kirana and dry fruits shops, though opened late and closed early, had a hectic day supplying goods to the customers.
Visitors said there was no jump in prices of goods they bought from thela walas. But high cotton and yarn rates were quoted by sellers of better quality "Banyan", socks, 'kerchief etc they remarked.
Fruits have become forbidden stuff this Eid. Kino, small and spotted were offered Rs 20/30 a dozen. The big ones, not very good looking either, were sold at Rs 30/40. A kilo of not so good apples was sold at Rs 50 and above. Banana never lagged behind and tolerable type could be had at Rs 24/28 a dozen.
