Eid message to Benazir
Clinton wants to
work closely
with Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: President Bill Clinton has said that in the year ahead, he wanted to continue to work closely with Pakistan "to strengthen the traditionally close ties between our two countries".
In an Eid-ul-Azha message to Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, he said, "May the people of the United States and Pakistan enjoy progress, peace and prosperity as we work together for peace around the world".
On the holy occasion of Eid-ul-Azha signifying the importance of religious faith and devotion, "I would like to extend to you and to the people of Pakistan the best wishes of the American people".
President Clinton quoted the First Lady having remarked at the first Eid-ul-Fitr celebration held at the White House, "Islam's focus on family and spirituality makes it an important force for progress in Pakistan and around the world".
"In the year ahead, I want to continue to work closely with you to strengthen the traditionally close ties between our two countries. May the peoples of the United States and Pakistan enjoy progress, peace and prosperity as we work together for peace around the world", he added.-APP
