Jamaat to
strive for
women rights
LAHORE: Chief of Milli Yekjehti Council (MYC) Punjab and Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore, Liaquat Baloch said here on Saturday that Islam had given an honourable and respectable place to women. The woman as mother, sister, wife and daughter enjoyed a pivotal position in the Islamic society, he added.
He said a handfull of so-called liberal and westernised ladies were a stigma on the majority of Muslim women. He also claimed that feudals, followers of secularism and capitalists had usurped the rights of women and Jamaat would strive for restoration of these rights.
These views were expressed by him while addressing a woman convention arranged in connection with the campaign of collecting hides and skins of sacrificial animals in Allama Iqbal Town the other day.
Liaquat Baloch alleged that Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto due to her Western and feudal thinking was not aware of the rights of Pakistani women. He said price-hike, unemployment, obscenity and corruption had perturbed every house.
