22 livestock
R&D schemes
in Sindh
under way
HYDERABAD: The Director, Sindh Animal Husbandry, Hyderabad told APP of an extensive provincial level programme whereby some 22 research schemes related to li vestock development are being undertaken in various districts of Sindh.
Under the scheme seven veterinary dispensaries and nine centres are being constructed at New Hala and Lakho Panhwar in district Mirpurkhas, Talhar in district Badin, Nagori Dairy Farm, Karachi, Malir - Karachi, Lakhano Kori, Sadiq Memon Goth and Village Ghulam Mustafa Shah in district Hyderabad, Kazi- Daro in district Larkana, Palio Bhutto in district Nawab -Shah , Dari, Kabil Khan Mazari in district Jacobabad and Rahimabad in district Sanghar.
The director further revealed that a research and livestock development unit is also under construction at Tando Mohammad Khan in district Hyderabad while establishment of the controlling centres of " Fasclotiasis" disease in districts Thatta, Badin, Dadu, Larkana and Hyderabad are also underway.
All the 22 development schemes estimated to cost Rs. 75.960 million and expected to be completed by the end of June of 1997, he said adding with the construction of facility over 5,44,120 domestic animals could be medically treated.
" While 906714 small and large animals will be provided medical assistance and preventive measures against the diseases "Fasclotiasis", he said.
He further claimed that completion of the research and development unit at Tando Mohammad Khan will help bring over 1,67,47,560 livestock population under research and development programme.-APP
