HYDERABAD: Workers of Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) staged a demonstration on in front of the Hyderabad Press Club on Thursday to protest against the non-payment of salaries for the months of March and April 1996 and over time.

The protestors raised slogans against the HDA administration and complained that they had not been issued summer and winter uniforms for the last three years.

They threatened to stage hunger strike unto death if their legal demands were not accepted.

Thereafter, six employees of the HDA observed token hunger strike on the second consecutive day.

KOHLI GOTH

35 villagers of Kohli Goth Hala Naka, including sixteen women and eight children also staged token hunger strike to protest against the alleged excesses of a Khoja zamindar.

Talking to newsmen, the Kohlis alleged that they were being forcibly ejected from their ancestral village by the zamindar, who wanted to construct a plaza there.

SUGAR MILL WORKERS

Hunger strike unto death by nine employees of Al-Abbas Sugar Mills Mirwah Gorchani, district Mirpurkhas continued on Thursday.

The hunger strikers have stopped drinking water and their health is deteriorating by the hour.

However, no one has taken any notice of the hunger strike so far.
