MQM permission

to collect

hides and skins

KARACHI: Ajmal Dehlavi chief negotiator of MQM said here on Thursday that the government has refused permission to Khidmat-e-Khalq Committee of MQM to collect hides and skins during Eid-ul-Azha.

This was stated by him in a hurriedly summoned press conference at his office on Thursday night.

Ajmal Dehlavi told newsmen that the Khidmat-e-Khalq Committee of MQM has been rendering humanitarian services to the poor and deserving people of the country without any discrimination. The committee had a number of ambulances and coffin carriers and dispensaries in Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and other places of Sindh.

He deplored that the present government wanted to crush the humanitarian services rendered by the Khidmat-e-Khalq Committee. He said as per instruction of the government, the Khidmat-e-Khalq Committee submitted written applications to all the deputy commissioners of the Karachi division but they were informed that all the applications are "lying with the Chief Minister of Sindh" for his permission.

He regretted that this restriction has been placed in Karachi, Hyderabad and some other areas while there are no such restrictions in the rural areas of the Sindh province.-PPI
