SAHIWAL: Acting Chief Justice Sheikh Ejaz Nisar of the Lahore High Court said here that Civil judges would be appointed at all the tehsil headquarters but the High Court was confronting the shortage of the civil judges. Details, he said, had been asked for from the District and Sessions judges of the province. Added problem was of residence of the civil judges at tehsil headquarters level.

This he said while talking to journalists on Wednesday, the Chief Justice said that the High Court had finalised the plan to accelerate the pace of cases involving capital punishment and the action on this plan was already being taken.

He said that after the separation of Judiciary from the administration the responsibilities of the Judiciary had increased manifold. However, provision of prompt justice to the people was a matter of priority on which the judiciary was acting and would continue to act.

POST MATRIC LAW STUDY

Justice Ejaz Nisar during his address to advocates and officers of Judiciary in local Bar Room on Thursday disclosed that efforts were being made to introduce law subjects in the curriculum of studies after matriculation. This would help those who want to become lawyers and for better understanding of law.

He said to uphold the rule of law the advocates would have to play an important role in the society. Coordination between advocates and the judiciary would promote confidence of the people in law and justice, he added.

He said that independence of judiciary was the best blessing which would enable the people to get cheaper and prompt justice.

The Chief Justice announced a grant of Rs. 50,000 for extension of the Bar Room.-PPI
