SARGODHA: Senator Ihsanulhaq Piracha has said the present government was making all cut efforts by utilizing available resources for the uplift of small towns which had been deprived of development in the past.

He was addressing as chief guest on Tuesday in Miani a prize distribution function on the conclusion of traditional and historical Mela "Basakhi' a cultural heritage renamed 'Jashn-e-Bahar-e-Nau' held every year at Miani a town in Tehsil Bhalwal District Sargodha. The festival is held during the month of 'Basakh' on the maturity of new crops to express happiness by the farmers.

Piracha said that special grant of Rs 20 lak sanctioned by President Farooq Leghari after visit to the flood damages during July-August 1995 by River Jhelum had been received by the Deputy Commissioner Sargodha and repairs to the flood damages will be executed shortly, besides measures to save the area from floods in future.-APP
