Fishermen agree

to shift trawlers,

boats to Korangi

KARACHI: Fishermen have finally agreed to migrate sizeable portion of their existing fleet of trawlers and boats from Karachi Fish Harbour and begin operational activities at Korangi Fish Harbour from May 18 next.

This was decided in a meeting held at premises of Korangi Fish Harbour Authority (KFHA) on Wednesday and chaired by Iqbal Turk, Managing Director, KFHA.

It was fourth meeting with fish processors, exporters, mole holders, boat owners and fishermen in the last 20 days.

A European inspection team is due to arrive in June, this year to examine fish catch, storage and processing fcilities here.

The KFHA managing director assured fishermen and processors that he would hold a meeting with Chief Minister next month to resolve issue of security in Korangi area.-PPI
