ISLAMABAD: The angry protesters staged demonstrations in London, Amman and Gaza to protest Israeli attack on Lebanon, Dubai television reported on Tuesday.

It said, the protesters angered by the Israeli attack on Southern Lebanon, picketed the home of British Prime Minister, John Major in London and demanded an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon.

In the Jordanian capital, thousands of students took to the streets to demand an end to the attacks. Israeli flag was set at light as the students chanted anti-Israeli slogans.

Only the intervention of Palestinian Police may have prevented disastrous bloodshed near the `Rafa' refugee camp in Gaza. Angry demonstrators were determined to march along a road leading to a Jewish settlement nearby, where clashes would have been inevitable.

The television emphasised that demonstrations like these were certain to continue and grow until diplomates find a way of silencing the guns on both sides of Lebanon's troubled border.-APP
