BOMBAY: Bombay sugar prices gained on Tuesday following improved upcountry demand particularly from India's Maharashtra state's southern region, a dealer said.
Prices of S-30 variety was quoted higher at 1,301/1,315 rupees from 1,292/1,313 rupees per quintal while M-30 variety firmed up to 1,315/1,345 from 1,310/1,340 rupees per quintal.
"Traders are awaiting the state allocation of free sale quota for the month of May," a dealer said.
"Prices are likely to firm up further on good continued demand from the southern region amid fresh inquires from local retailers particularly in the summer season," he said.-Reuter
