516 bottles of foreign liquor seized

KARACHI: The Rummaging staff of the Preventive Collectorate of Customs at Ghas Bundar on Monday seized 516 bottles of foreign liquor valued at Rs.15.43 laks from a ship flying Ukranian flag.

According to Customs sources,a tip was received about smuggling of large quantity of foreign liquor into Pakistan through a ship.

On this information the Assistant Collector Customs, Zahid Bhayyo deployed his men on a surveillance of suspected ship and finally raided mv "Transcord", flying Ukranian flag berthed at Berth No 44 of West Wharf.

The Customs hounds rummaged the ship and ultimately succeeded in the recovery of 43 crates containing Black Label bottles and 17 crates containing VAT-69 from the ship's water tank.

Customs sources said that so far no arrest had been made as no one claimed the consignment.

Meanwhile an investigation was underway under the supervision of Assistant Collector Zahid Bhayyo.-APP
