JI calls for OIC
meeting to press
India end
killings in Valley
ISLAMABAD: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Kashmir, Abdul Rashid Turabi has expressed the need for calling a meeting of the OIC to pressurise India to stop the massacre of Kashmiri leadership in the held Valley.
He told PTV in an interview on Monday that India was trying to eliminate the Kashmiri leadership in occupied Kashmir. He said: "Many assassination attempts have been made on the leaders of Hurriyat Conference, including Syed Ali Gillani, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Mir Waiz Umar Farooq, Prof. Abdul Ghani, Abdul Ghani Lone, and Yasin Malik, and some of them have been martyred."
Turabi, who is a prominent Kashmiri leader, said that Kashmir issue "today is well known" to the international community compared to seven years ago. The OIC summits during this period have also passed many resolutions on Kashmir, he added.
He said that nobody was ready to accept that Kashmir was an integral part of India, everybody says it is a disputed territory". There are a few strong groups in the European Parliament, Britain and in the United States who are supporting Kashmiris in one way or another, he added.
The Labour Party in Britain has included Kashmir in its election manifesto, Turabi said.-APP
