Germany willing

to cooperate in

environment field

LAHORE: Germany has welcomed the comprehensive strategy evolved by Pakistan Government during the last couple of years in the field of environment and suggested vigorous implementation of anti-pollution measures all around.

Given the high importance the German Government attaches to environmentally sound and sustainable development, the Germans have expressed interest to intensively cooperate with Pakistan in this field.

This indication was given by the German delegation to the consultations on Pak-German development cooperation held recently in Islamabad.

_The German side had expressed willingness to extend financial and technical assistance for the development projects aiming at pollution free environment particularly where as thermal plants are contributing sulphur dioxide in the air under the relaxed emission standards, which would be devastating in certain areas.
