KARACHI: Taking a big leap forward, a five-member delegation of exporters of Hazara Division was sponsored by the Export Promotion Bureau, to Azerbaijan, to explore, introduce Pakistani products and survey the potential for themselves and for the Pakistani businessmen/exporters. Delegates recognized facilities and confidence the EPB poses in the exporters of even the remote corners of the country, says an EPB press release.

After 14 days in Baku (Capital of Azerbaijan) two delegates returned and briefed the Vice Chairman of the Bureau regarding the outcome of visit. Other members will return next week after completing the legal formalities in the contracts according to Azerbaijan rules and regulations.

The delegates informed the Bureau that they had entered into contracts with the government agencies (importers) of the Azerbaijan, against irrevocable Letter of Credits. The financial systems of this state are not yet in conformity with the international standards, therefore, they suggest their Pakistani counterparts negotiate prices and payments from International banks operating in the Azerbaijan or in other countries.

A delegation of Azerbaijani businessmen has also been invited to Pakistan to further the trade relations with this friendly country.

They also said that they will prepare a comprehensive survey report regarding the export and business opportunities in Azerbaijan, by April 25.
