KARACHI: Hameed Haroon, Honorary Secretary General of Pakistan Newspapers & Periodicals Organisation (PNPO) has announced that on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, all PNPO member publications will observe two closed holidays i.e. on Monday, April 29, 1996 and Tuesday, April 30, 1996. Therefore there will be no newspapers on Tuesday, April 30, 1996 & Wednesday, May 1, 1996. However, the evening newspapers may bring out their issues on Wednesday May 1, 1996 if they so desire, says a PNPO release.

He added that in view of the fact that this year May Day will follow, immediately after the Eid holidays, it had been decided that member publication will not observe 1st May as holiday, as a special case.

Therefore, all PNPO member publication will publish their issues on Thursday May 2, 1996, so that the readers are not deprived of newspapers for 3 consecutive days.
