RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Eight persons, including two students and an arms and drugs peddler, were killed in different incidents in the city on Monday.

Police sources said that Ghulam Rasool alias Toor Khan, an arms and drugs peddler of Karachi, and an unidentified man were killed in an encounter in Gulshan-e-Sikandar area.

According to details, a police party, on a tip cordoned off the whole locality of Gulshan-e-Sikandar and another police party moved towards the house of Toor Khan and ordered him to surrender. After a heavy exchange of fire which lasted about half an hour the police party stormed the house and found the bodies of Toor Khan and an unidentified man lying in a pool of blood.

The police claimed to have recovered a huge quantity of charas, liquor and arms from the house. Toor Khan was allegedly involved in more than 15 cases of murder, smuggling of arms and drugs and kidnapping.

A speedy bus crushed to death an eight-year old girl, Salma student of a primary school in Nazimabad, Imran 5, was killed under the wheels of a truck in Sultanabad area. He was a student of Government Intelligence School, Sultanabad.

Mohammad Raoof was knocked dead by a bus in New Karachi area.

The charred body of a 35-year old Bengali woman was recovered from Kutchra Kundi in Block-3, Sher Shah Colony.

Another body was recovered from Landhi 36-B area. The body bore marks of torture and bullets.

Umar Daraz was killed and Alif Khan and Mohammad Hashim were injured when the roof of Rasheed Hotel collapsed in Machar Colony, TPX area. Edhi ambulance shifted the dead and injured to Civil Hospital. The three persons were sleeping on the roof of the hotel which caved in at about 4.30 am.
