ISLAMABAD: The President Peoples Lawyers Forum, Lahore Raja Zulqarnain has criticised Supreme Court Bar Association President's statement in which he said that Chief Justice became ill due to government's attitude.

Zulqarnain said the president of the SC Bar Association, Akram Sheikh is acting like more of a PML (N) spokesman than a lawyer.

"Its unbecoming of a lawyer to issue such statements which clearly shows that he is becoming party to opposing political forces bent upon destroying the moral values," Raja Zulqarnain president PLF said in a statement.

He said the Prime Minister due to her far sightedness has put to rest all the misunderstandings which existed between the Government and the Judiciary.

"This has caught the opposition on `wrong foot' who is now trying to cash in on the illness of Chief Justice by giving it a political twist, which is deplorable," he added.

Zulqarnain said if Akram did not like the issuance of ordinances then he should advise the opposition to help government in legislation in the Parliament.

"The Opposition is always hindering legislation in the house because they are the products of Martial Law," he added.

He criticized the opposition for creating obstacles in the bill which was tabled in the parliament for the separation of executive from the judiciary.-APP
