Pakistan's stand

on Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Oman supports Pakistan's just stand on Kashmir and hopes that the long pending issue of Kashmir will be peacefully resolved in accordance with the UN resolutions.

This was stated by Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al-Qatabi, President of the Shura of the Sultanate of Oman in a meeting with the Chairman Senate Mr. Wasim Sajjad at the Parliament House here on Monday.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al-Qatabi, who is visiting Pakistan these days, along with an 11-member delegation from the Shura of Oman, said the Pakistan's stand on Kashmir was supported by the UN resolutions and logic demands that the concerned countries should give attention to an early resolution of this lingering problem. Resolution of the Kashmir issue would open way for the development of the South Asia Sub-Continent and ameliorating the lot of the people living there, he added.

Earlier, Chairman Senate,Wasim Sajjad briefed Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al-Qatabi about the background of the Kashmir problem and Pakistan's principled stand on the issue for finding a peaceful solution to it by granting the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir in keeping with the international law and the UN resolutions.

Senate chairman informed the president of the Omanese Shura about the reign of terror let loose by the Indian troops in the occupied Kashmir and the massive human rights violations, custodial killings and the molestation of women being committed by the occupation forces there.

Wasim Sajjad also highlighted the vast scope that exists for bilateral cooperation between both Pakistan and Oman in various walks of life and expressed the hope that the Omanese businessmen and industrialists will take interest in exploring the great avenues of investment opportunities in Pakistan.

He stated, "we believe that the Sultanate of Oman was keen to develop joint ventures in the coastal areas of Balochistan" and added" Pakistan would welcome all sorts of joint ventures between both the brotherly countries."-APP
