Demo against

non-payment

of salaries staged

HYDERABAD: Some 50 persons including women of Food Grain Godown Workers Union (CBA) staged a demonstration infront of Hyderabad Press Club here on Sunday to protest against the non-payment of their seven-month salaries and non-provision of uniforms.

They carried playcards and banners inscribed with anti-government and anti-food department slogans. They also raised slogans in favour of their demands.

Addressing the protestors, general secretary Food Grain Godown Workers Union Mehboob Qureshi warned if salaries of the employees were not paid before the Eid, they would take extreme steps.

He deplored that on the one hand the government was claiming for the resolution of problems faced by labour and low paid employees while on the other hands workers of the food department were being denied their salaries.

He appealed to Prime Minister, Sindh Chief Minister and Minister for Food to intervene into the matter and direct the food department for immediate payment of salaries to low paid employees before the Eid.

He warned if their salaries were not paid before the Eid they will take extreme measures and the responsibility of the consequences would rest with the government.
